CAMBRIA, MARCH 1 - FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY 4 MILE (Moonstone Beach Drive):
Lured by the prospect of free food at Neil & Carol’s, SLDC runners made this race look like a time trial by accounting for 3/4 of the race field, including the first 12 finishers. Almost everyone was over 40 as the first non-masters was teenager Matthew Shuck. Leading the 50 year olds was Vince Figueroa as the former SBAA athlete was running his first race in 23 years. Training for the long course Wildflower Triathlon, Kevin, Bobbi, Charlie, & Scott May rode their bikes from SLO to the race and back. Winners of the run and walk received $25 gift certificates from the Cambria Book Company.

Both Ron & Wayne met the Boston qualifying time of 3:35 for the 50/54 age group. This was Ron’s first race as a 50 year old, his marathon debut, and Wayne’s club marathon debut.
