Once again the run had beautiful weather and breathtaking scenery with race photos appearing in The Tribune (along with a list of all finishers) and The Sun Bulletin (along with the top 100 finishers). SLDC had a good turnout with 48 finishers and 19 award winners (top three within their age division). The race was conducted by the Morro Bay Recreation Department, directed by Karen Sweeny, and named after SLDC founder Brian Waterbury.

CALGARY, ALBERTA, CANADA, JULY 11 Ð CALGARY MARATHON:

From Lori Hashim, ÒI made it through the Calgary Marathon even though it was my slowest one to date. I could give endless excuses as to why I didnÕt run as fast as I would have liked to but IÕll spare the details. I never clicked during the run and felt miserable the entire way. On the brighter side, it was a beautiful course and the people were very friendly. I donÕt feel as beaten up as I usually do and for the first time after one of these I was not swearing that IÕd never do another marathon again. In fact, IÕm looking forward to running another one because I want to get on the SLDC all-time top 20 list. I plan to begin running again next week to start getting ready.Ó
