SAN LUIS OBISPO, SEPTEMBER 25 – FAIRBANKS YOUTH CROSS COUNTRY FESTIVAL:

This marked the first time that this meet was a USAT&F sanctioned event and it drew a good turnout of 150 for the 7 races. In addition to local runners, there were entrants from Sacramento & Salinas due to the meetÕs USAT&F status. There were three new course records plus one that was tied. SLDC Roo Rats won four of the seven races so it was a good day for coach and meet director Jim Barodte. SLDC members were on hand to help as course monitors and finish line officials. The Brian Waterbury Team plaque for first place in the Youth Division went to Laguna, a fitting winner since thatÕs where Brian started his teaching and coaching career.

SAN LUIS OBISPO, SEPTEMBER 25 – MOUNTAINBROOK CHARITY CHALLENGE:

If the times for the 10K seem slow, itÕs because the race went up Madonna Peak from the start in Laguna Lake Park. The two races had a combined total of 163 finishers, a good turnout considering it was one of four central coast weekend races. Five of the runners (Matt & Chris Shuck, Bill Garrett, Matt Ruane, & John Kammer) came back to run again the next day in Paso Robles. The event was held to benefit the Family Care Network and included plenty of activities after the race.     - / Results from Rick Davis / -
