Half Marathon - 442. Linda Ratley/Santa  Maria-SLDC 2:41:59.  (745 finishers) . . . ThomasÕ times are the top three SLDC times of the year, moving him ahead of Mark MartinsÕ 3:00:39 at Boston. The final day of the triple was held in conjunction with the regular Lake Tahoe Marathon with 377 finishers in which Thomas placing 6th. He was the defending champion in the Tahoe Triple but was beaten this year by someone who ran in the low 2:40Õs each day. It was a two man contest with third place more than a cumulative total of three hours back.

SANTA MARIA, SEPTEMBER 30 - FESLER INVITATIONAL (at Preisker Park): With only two 'Roo Rats showing up to run, it seemed a little lonely but it turned out to be a good day for the two came. In the 7th/8th Grade Girls 2 mile, Demitria Castanon hung back for the first 300M, then gradually moved up over the next mile to get into third. Running her first mile in 7:05, Demitria closed the 18 second gap on the leader to power to the finish a close second overall and first for the 7th Grade Girls. In the 7th/8th Grade Boys 2 mile, Garrett Owens took over quickly with his challenger staying close behind. Running the first mile in 5:40, Garrett was overtaken with 1200M left but hung on, then surged past his rival with 400M to go and sprinted home with the win.  - / Jim Barodte / -

AVILA BEACH, OCTOBER 1 - AVILA BEACH 5K: Older runners (ages 49+) dominated the race with 8 of the top 10 finishers and more than half of the top 40. It would have been even more but Steve & Rebecca Wyer, Jeff Cenoz, & Chris Shuck brought their children with them to the race to add some youth to the field. Proceeds went to benefit the Chris Jespersen Memorial Society Foundation which assists children with physical and developmental delays.

3662. Jody Koch/San Luis Obispo-SLDC 3:26:39 (Boston qualifier, club marathon debut). Jody was the first SLDC female finisher in the open race at the Heritage Oaks Bank 10K. The club record at Chicago is 3:17:36 by Mariko Fujinaka in 1998 with Jody moving into second ahead of Lori HashimÕs 3:29:42 in 2000.
