SPOONER LAKE, JULY 21 - TAHOE RIM TRAIL FIFTY MILE ENDURANCE RUN:

1. Thomas Reiss 8:10:03. Thomas continued his impressive streak in ultra races, winning comfortably over the field of 106 finishers. . . From The Tribune - SLO runner wins Tahoe 50 Mile: Thomas Reiss missed breaking the course record by just three minutes in his first-place finish at the Tahoe Rim Trail 50 Mile. The San Luis Obispo resident finished the 50 mile race in 8:10:08, the second-fastest time in race history and nearly 30 minutes ahead of runner-up Jeff Kozak. Reiss took the lead before the halfway point and led the rest of the way to the finish.

Youth Girls 800 Meters - 7. Savannah Camacho 2:19.02 (PR of 2:17.40 to finish second in qualifying heat #1; National Elite Youth All-American, 2nd SLDC Youth team member to medal at the J.O. National Championships).

Youth Boys 3000 Meters - 13. Nathan Baldwin 10:12.76 (National Elite Youth Honor Roll).

Intermediate Boys 2000 Meter Steeplechase - 15. James Shipe 6:59.03 (National Elite Youth Honor Roll).

 

 

SAN FRANCISCO, JULY 29 - SAN FRANCISCO MARATHON (4,250 finishers):

1097. Larry Jamison (4-65/69) 3:57:17 .. 1758. Art MacCarley 4:17:43 .. 1759. Laura MacCarley (8th-19&U) 4:17:44.

This was marathon #50 for Larry, 4th on the all-time SLDC masters list with his PR of 2:40:53 at Cal Intl in 1984. For Laura, it was a half hour improvement over the 4:55 she ran at the Los Angeles Marathon as a 14 year old in 2004.

PISMO BEACH, AUGUST 11 - STRIDE WITH THE TIDE 5K, 10K, & YOUTH MILE:

A good SLDC turnout with over 30 runners ranging in age from 11 to 80 showing up for these out and back runs along the hard packed sand. Among them was Jean Spierling, who ran in the first race on this course, the 1974 Pismo Beach Clam Festival Five Mile. Sydne Aguilar placed second overall and was the first female in the youth mile.
